Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: Greater London

City + Capital are currently representing a growing and dynamic specialist property finance lender who are looking to appoint a Credit Manager or Senior Credit Manager to their London team.

This is a hybrid role.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bridging finance credit or underwriting professional to join a lender with a strong appetite across short-term secured lending, including regulated and unregulated bridging, refurbishment-led lending and more complex property-backed transactions.

The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing new lending enquiries, pulling apart proposals, preparing credit papers, informing credit committee and managing cases through to completion.

The Company

The company operates a hands-on and commercially focussed lending environment, where credit plays a central role in assessing risk, educating sales, shaping proposals and supporting the wider business in progressing suitable cases through to funding.

This is not a vanilla lending environment. The lender works across varied case types, including refurbishment-led transactions and more complex scenarios that require strong credit judgement, detailed analysis and practical lending experience.

You may expect to work on residential, semi or commercial loan applications.

Due to continued activity and demand across the market, the business is now looking to strengthen its credit function with the appointment of an experienced Credit Manager / Senior Credit Manager.

Role Overview

You will be responsible for reviewing new lending enquiries introduced by the BDM team or that may land directly from property professionals, such as investors and developers. Throughout, you will take ownership of the credit assessment process.

The role will involve assessing and testing lending proposals, challenging the information provided, carrying out the required investigations and preparing clear, robust credit papers. The successful candidate will then manually underwrite cases from initial proposal through to completion.

You will work closely with BDMs and internal stakeholders to ensure cases are properly assessed, key risks are identified and appropriate lending decisions can be made.

This is a role suited to someone who enjoys detailed analysis, sensible challenge and the opportunity to work on varied bridging finance cases from enquiry through to funds being released.

Responsibilities
  • Review new lending enquiries
  • Assess the structure, purpose, security and repayment strategy of each proposal
  • Analyse proposals and challenge the information provided where required
  • Complete the credit analysis and investigations needed to progress each case
  • Prepare clear and robust credit papers
  • Manually underwrite cases from initial proposal through to completion
  • Work across regulated and unregulated bridging finance
  • Identify key risks, mitigants and any further information required
  • Support the business in progressing suitable cases through to funds being released
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, detail and commercial awareness.
Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will be analytical, commercially aware and confident in their own credit judgement.

You will need to be comfortable challenging information, asking the right questions and working collaboratively with front-end lending teams to ensure cases are properly assessed.

You will have a demonstrable track record of success within underwriting and/or credit within bridging finance.

  • A proven track record of success within underwriting or credit focussed roles
  • Experience with complex refurbishment lending would be highly beneficial
  • Ability to manually underwrite cases from start to finish
  • Experience preparing credit papers or lending recommendations.
  • Confidence assessing more complex or non-standard lending scenarios.
  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable challenging BDM-originated proposals in a constructive way.
  • Commercial lending experience would be beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work closely with internal stakeholders.
