Senior Technical Risk Analyst – Fixed Term Contract (15 months)

Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.

Role Overview

As a Senior Technical Risk Analyst, you will ensure risks taken in capital market investing are intentional, rewarded, well understood, and enable Railpen to meet our client's preferred investment outcomes. You will support quantitative risk modelling across the entire portfolio, including both public and private assets for granular and factor models.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Senior Model Validation Manager and work with risk system vendor and third‑party systems to keep Railpen’s risk model and analytics fit for purpose.
  • Establish and maintain the capability to validate, check, and review risk settings, model choices, proxies, system settings and all elements related to the risk model output.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure continuous improvement of the risk model and related tools.
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience in risk model validation or development within asset management or financial services.
  • Good understanding of risk modelling techniques and regulatory requirements relevant to asset management or pensions.
  • Experience with MSCI Risk Metric and its use of CDMS, RML4, RM3D and Web Services.
  • Strong communication, engagement and influence skills for senior stakeholders, committees and boards.
  • Ability to take responsibility, raise issues early and deliver high‑quality output consistently.
