We are supporting an established futures brokerage in the appointment of a Head of LME Trading to lead and develop its London Metal Exchange trading business.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience across base metals and LME products, with a strong understanding of exchange-traded and OTC markets, client execution, risk management and brokerage operations. This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for managing the trading desk, strengthening client relationships and driving the continued growth of the firm’s metals franchise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the firm’s LME trading and execution activities across base metals.
  • Manage, develop and mentor a team of traders, brokers and execution professionals.
  • Execute client orders across LME futures, options, spreads and related OTC products.
  • Build and maintain relationships with producers, consumers, merchants, trading houses, hedge funds and institutional clients.
  • Develop the firm’s LME client offering and identify new revenue opportunities.
  • Oversee trading risk, position limits, operational controls and regulatory compliance.
  • Work closely with clearing, operations, compliance, risk and technology teams.
  • Monitor market developments, liquidity conditions, positioning and key fundamental drivers across the metals complex.
  • Support the recruitment and expansion of the broader metals trading team.
  • Represent the firm within the LME and wider international metals-trading community.
Candidate Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in LME trading, metals brokerage or a closely related role.
  • Strong knowledge of LME futures, options, spreads, carries and physical-market hedging.
  • Established relationships across the global metals and commodities market.
  • Proven experience managing a trading or brokerage desk.
  • Strong understanding of exchange rules, clearing, margining, market conduct and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrable track record of generating revenue and developing client relationships.
  • Excellent leadership, communication and commercial skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
Preferred Background

Candidates may come from an LME brokerage, investment bank, commodity trading house, merchant, producer or specialist metals-trading firm. Experience building or expanding an LME desk would be particularly valuable.

The firm offers a competitive base salary, performance-related compensation and the opportunity to lead the development of a strategically important global metals business.
