This role sits within a specialist Transaction Tax team that advises corporate and financial investor clients on a broad range of transactions.
The team supports clients throughout the transaction lifecycle, including acquisitions, disposals, refinancing, restructuring, and capital market events. Engagements typically involve tax due diligence, transaction structuring, financial modelling, and the assessment of tax risks and opportunities.
Working alongside multidisciplinary teams and international colleagues where required, the successful candidate will help clients navigate complex tax considerations across a range of industries and transaction types.
The role offers exposure to high-profile and technically challenging assignments, providing opportunities to develop both technical expertise and commercial acumen.
Key Responsibilities- Work alongside senior leadership on complex transaction engagements, delivering high-quality tax advice and client service.
- Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, client presentations, and pitching opportunities.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships and collaborate with colleagues across wider advisory teams.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, legal advisers, and internal stakeholders to support efficient project delivery.
- Prepare and review technical advice covering a range of UK and international tax issues.
- Analyse tax-related documentation and financial information, identifying key risks, opportunities, and commercial implications.
- Review and support financial modelling activities, including tax assumptions and transaction scenarios.
- Prepare and review transaction funding structures, cash flow analyses, and capitalisation models.
- Support the development and mentoring of junior colleagues through coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK and international tax developments relevant to transaction activity.
- Contribute to technical publications, thought leadership initiatives, and internal knowledge-sharing activities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- A relevant professional qualification (e.g. CTA, ACA, CA or equivalent).
- Experience with in transaction tax, corporate tax advisory, or a related specialist tax discipline.
- Strong UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of international tax considerations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex technical issues and provide commercially focused advice.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of work.
- A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to team development.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- A genuine interest in transaction-related work and corporate finance activity.
