HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations in the world, with a network that covers more than 50 countries and territories. We aim to be where the growth is, enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, and ultimately helping people to fulfil their hopes and realise their ambitions.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional for the Senior Manager, Liquidity – Treasury role. In this high-impact position, you will partner closely with Global Businesses and Finance to shape liquidity strategy through effective transfer pricing (FTP) and robust liquidity risk management. You’ll use your deep understanding of Global Markets, including Prime Business, behaviouralisation principles, and liquidity risk to assess and challenge the entity’s liquidity risks, controls, buffers, limits, and triggers, then present your insights to senior decision‑makers in ALCO and other governance forums.

You will also strengthen the bank’s control environment by drafting key sections of Liquidity Risk policy, including ILAAP, and supporting related frameworks such as ICAAP and Recovery & Resolution Planning, while driving resource optimisation to improve risk‑adjusted returns.

As an HSBC employee in the UK, you will have access to tailored professional development opportunities and a competitive pay and benefits package that includes private healthcare for all UK-based employees, enhanced maternity and adoption pay, and a contributory pension scheme with a generous employer contribution.

The role is located in the HCIB Treasury team and offers strong visibility, senior stakeholder exposure, and a clear platform to grow your expertise and influence.

In this role you’ll:
  • Assess the entity’s liquidity risks and evaluate how effective liquidity controls, buffers, limits, and triggers are in preventing or detecting risk.
  • Act as a liquidity business partner providing advice, guidance, and education to stakeholders on liquidity management.
  • Enhance and develop a transparent liquidity FTP framework, working with Global Businesses and Finance to support liquidity strategy.
  • Optimize financial resources to improve the entity’s risk‑adjusted returns, and analyse or interrogate liquidity reporting to understand business drivers.
  • Produce and present governance materials (ALCO and sub‑ALCO), draft key Liquidity Risk policy documentation (including ILAAP sections), contribute to ICAAP and Recovery & Resolution Planning, and execute or monitor Treasury FIM liquidity policies and procedures (including limits).
Requirements
  • Demonstrable Liquidity Management (first or second line) or Financial Resource Management experience working within a top‑tier bank or professional services firm.
  • Liquidity supervisory experience at the PRA.
  • Strong knowledge of the Global Markets business (structure, product suite, and strategic drivers), including Prime Business.
  • Solid understanding of financial markets and liquidity risk across financial assets and activities (derivatives, equities, debt, hedges, Prime Business, and other market activities).
  • Experience with external statutory and regulatory liquidity reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders to deliver multiple objectives alongside tactical tasks.
  • Experience working in large, complex organisations and business‑line functions, including delivery on large‑scale, multi‑stakeholder projects.
