The Opportunity:

Everest is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join the Credit and Political Risk team in London. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to a well established portfolio while supporting the continued growth of key segments, including aviation finance.

Team Overview:
The Credit and Political Risk team at Everest is a core specialty business within Global Wholesale and Specialty, with underwriting hubs in London, the US and Singapore. The team is a highly regarded lead market with deep expertise across sovereign risk, structured credit, political risk and complex asset‑backed exposures. With more than a decade of underwriting history at Everest, the portfolio is well established and diversified, with a strong track record of disciplined underwriting and market credibility.

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and experienced team, working across a broad range of countries, industries and asset classes, with the ability to make a meaningful impact from day one.

What you will be doing:
  • Underwrite a broad portfolio of credit and political risk business across sovereign risk, structured credit, political risk, project finance and asset‑backed transactions
  • Take a lead role in developing and growing the aviation finance portfolio, identifying new opportunities and deepening existing relationships
  • Assess and select risks through disciplined credit and sovereign analysis, structuring solutions aligned to underwriting appetite
  • Price and structure transactions using appropriate analytical tools, ensuring risks are written on a sustainable and profitable basis
  • Document underwriting decisions clearly, supported by robust risk and pricing analysis
  • Negotiate policy terms and wordings in collaboration with internal stakeholders including legal and underwriting teams
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with global banking clients, financial institutions and brokers
  • Represent Everest externally at client meetings, market engagements and industry conferences
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of underwriting strategy, portfolio construction and risk appetite
  • Support a collaborative and high‑performing team environment, sharing expertise and market insight
What we are looking for:
  • Experience underwriting credit and political risk business within the London Market or international markets
  • Exposure to aviation finance, asset‑backed finance or structured credit transactions
  • Strong understanding of credit analysis, sovereign risk and transaction structuring
  • Ability to assess complex risks and translate them into clear underwriting decisions
  • Commercial mindset with the ability to originate and develop business opportunities
  • Strong relationship management skills across brokers and financial institutions
  • Experience in negotiating policy wordings and working with internal stakeholders
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced, high‑performing environment
  • Collaborative approach, with a willingness to contribute to team development and broader business strategy
  • A background in finance, economics or a related discipline is beneficial, but not essential
