As our Markets and Placements Manager, Trade & Invoice Finance you will own the lender-side of the desk. You'll sit between our Deal Teams and a curated panel of specialist funders - knowing each lender's live appetite, structuring submissions that land, and making sure only clean, well-packaged cases reach our operations team. You will also be expected to grow the Lender panel through targeted and strategic acquisition.

As a Markets and Placements Manager, Trade & Invoice Finance, you will oversee the following:
Lender Relationship Management- Own and develop Fund Onion's panel of Invoice Finance and Trade Finance specialist lenders, building deep relationships with underwriters and BDMs.
- Maintain a live picture of each lender's credit appetite, sector preferences, concentration limits, and speed-to-offer.
- Negotiate indicative and formal terms on live deals, ensuring we consistently secure competitive structures for clients.
- Attend lender events and market briefings to stay ahead of appetite shifts and new product launches.
- Review incoming opportunities from Deal Teams and assess fit against the lender panel before a case goes live.
- Structure Invoice Finance and Trade Finance submissions - facility type, advance rate, tenure, security, pricing - to maximise approval probability.
- Identify the right lender(s) for each case and manage the submission process end-to-end.
- Hand clean, fully packaged cases into the Operations team with clear lender guidance and next steps.
- Write a weekly desk note briefing Deal Teams on market conditions: appetite changes, rate movements, sector risks, and lender news.
- Build and maintain an internal lender matrix - a living document tracking each funder's criteria, contacts, SLAs, and recent decisions.
- Flag emerging trends (e.g. sector-specific restrictions, new challengers entering the market) and translate them into deal strategy.
- Work closely with the Deals team to upskill the desk on Invoice Finance & Trade Finance lender nuances.
- Partner with leadership on panel development - identifying gaps in coverage and recommending new lender additions.
- Contribute to process improvements that reduce deal turnaround time and increase quote conversion.
- 2+ years' experience in Financial Services.
- Presentable, analytically minded, and comfortable with financial concepts - with a genuine interest in finance, the ability to build lasting relationships, and a hunger to keep learning.
- A background in customer success, account management, or relationship management.
- Demonstrable ability to manage multiple lender or client relationships simultaneously, with strong follow-through.
- Strong written communication skills; able to produce clear, concise briefings and structured deal packs.
- Commercially minded with a consultative approach.
- Prior experience with Invoice Finance and Trade Finance.
- Background in Wealth Management and/or Investment Banking/Consulting.
- Existing relationships with Invoice Finance & Trade Finance funders active in the UK SME market.
