About

The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Payment Officer to join our Brokerage Payments Team within Adult Social Care. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring that payments to our social care providers are accurate, timely and compliant. Working closely with providers and colleagues across Adult Social Care, you’ll support the smooth operation of financial processes that ultimately help deliver vital services to residents.

You’ll be responsible for processing invoices, scheduled and ad‑hoc payments, resolving payment queries and supporting reconciliations. You will also assist the Payments Manager and Senior Brokerage Manager in reviewing payments, identifying over payments and maintaining robust financial controls.

A key part of the role is promoting best practice – supporting providers through guidance and training on invoicing and payment systems, helping to improve efficiency and independence across the sector, while ensuring high standards of service delivery.

About The Team

Our Payments Team sits within the Adult Social Care directorate and works collaboratively with teams including Financial Assessments, Brokerage, Direct Payments, and Quality Assurance/Commissioning. You’ll be joining a small, supportive team of four Payment Officers, all focused on delivering a high-quality, responsive service to external care providers.

Together, the team ensures that providers are paid correctly and on time, while also acting as a key point of contact for resolving queries and supporting the effective operation of invoicing and scheduled payment processes.

About You

We’re looking for a proactive and detail‑oriented individual with strong financial processing experience and a collaborative approach. You’ll be confident working with financial systems, managing data accurately, and building positive relationships with both internal colleagues and external providers to deliver a high-quality service.

You Will Bring
  • Working knowledge of social care finance systems such as ContrOCC and SAP, along with strong Excel skills
  • Experience processing client and provider transactions, including invoices, scheduled and ad‑hoc payments
  • The ability to manage and analyse financial information, including supporting reconciliations and monitoring reports
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and maintaining financial controls
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders and resolve queries in a timely manner
  • A proactive and collaborative approach, sharing knowledge and contributing to continuous improvement across the team
  • Understanding of Adult Social Care services and relevant legislation, including safeguarding vulnerable adults
Benefits

Our benefits package includes a leave entitlement up to 31 days + bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and wellbeing support, a generous local government pension scheme and a range of discount schemes across leisure and culture that provide both financial and money‑saving discounts.
