Deputy Chief Economist - Senior Manager

Location: London, Canada Square

Working Pattern: Hybrid

KPMG’s macroeconomics team works with the firm’s Chief Economist for EMEA to develop the firm’s views and advice on the economic outlook. The team produces a range of regular forecasts and economic outlook reports, as well as themed research on issues relevant to our clients. The team also provides bespoke client briefings and presentations.

We are looking to recruit a Deputy Chief Economist to join our team. Their responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities
  • Coordinating the team’s activities and deliverables
  • Developing the team’s relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Design and lead economic analysis on a range of topics relevant to our business
  • Engage with our clients on economic issues, through speaking at public and KPMG events as well as client meetings
  • Lead the team’s input into KPMG’s client work
Experience required
  • A 2.1 or First class undergraduate degree and a Masters’ degree in economics from a top rated university with significant macroeconomics content
  • Significant demonstratable experience in writing economic outlook reports and carrying out macroeconomics-related research
  • Experience in modelling and forecasting
  • Client facing experience in presenting and conveying economic outlook risks and key issues to a varied non-technical business audience
  • Successful and demonstrable experience in running multiple projects to short deadlines in a dynamic and fast changing environment
Skills required
  • Very strong knowledge of the UK economy, as well as major European economies
  • Keen interest in major developments and risks faced by the G7 and the major emerging economies
  • Solid econometric skills
  • Excellent written English
  • Excellent oral communications
  • Ability to present advanced technical evidence in a digestible format to a non-technical audience.
