Crypto Lead, Market Abuse (Fixed Term Contract – 12 months)

National (Edinburgh & Leeds): £53,000‑£69,000. London: £59,200‑£76,000.

• Work with teams across the Directorate to ensure they are fully prepared for the impact of the new crypto‑asset regulations.
• Participate in FCA‑wide crypto‑related work streams that may impact the Market Oversight Directorate.
• Ensure the correct crypto‑asset training sessions are available to the right people within the Division.
• Keep MO senior management apprised of all relevant developments and advise where appropriate.
• Develop a strong understanding of enquiry teams across primary and secondary market oversight, including how market‑abuse risks may apply to crypto‑assets and how we would respond.

Minimum:

• Practical experience in UK financial markets, gained in a financial services firm, trading venue, financial services consultancy firm or regulator.
• A demonstrable, working knowledge of the mechanics of traded markets and market‑abuse typologies.

Essential:

• Understanding of the UK Market Abuse Regulation (UK MAR).
• Understanding of the UK crypto‑asset regime, specifically the proposed policy for the Market Abuse Regime for Cryptoassets (MARC) and Admissions and Disclosures (A&D) as per CP25/41.
• Strong analytical and communications skills.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex events clearly and succinctly.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and sharing knowledge.
• Self‑starter with a proactive approach to acquiring skills and getting the job completed.
• Demonstrable experience of compliance and surveillance of traded products.
