Associate Catastrophe Analyst

About the Role:

  • Support the team and offshore partners to record and model exposure information to effectively monitor allocated portfolios.
  • Liaise with the allocated class Underwriters for the portfolios, providing quoting/aggregation service and support rollup processes ensuring consistency across all geographies.
  • Support the wider EM team in delivering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Underwriting team to deliver a quoting/cleansing service that supports all rollups and reporting and bespoke Underwriter analytics.
  • Use proprietary aggregation software to model risks to potential losses on behalf of Underwriters pre-bind.
  • Support the wider team to record and maintain policy and exposure information in modelling systems while monitoring and improving data quality.
  • Support outsourcing business partners with queries around cleansing assumptions and peer review/check their work, taking ownership of complex accounts onshore if needed.
  • Support the team with tasks as part of the delivery of exposure management projects.
  • Provide validated modelled output for internal and external regulatory submissions including RDS, LCM, Aggregate Monitoring, Outwards RI, ERM Reporting, GAREAT/LFB reporting.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulatory requirements and demonstrate compliance with Conduct Risk Policy, Senior Managers and Certification Regime Conduct Rules, Solvency II, fair treatment of customers, Financial Crime, Data Protection, Conflicts of Interest, and Whistleblowing.

Skills and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (e.g., Natural Sciences, Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Geography).
  • Knowledge of primary functions within Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, for mining/manipulating datasets.
  • Highly analytical with ability to process and understand data quickly and creatively.
  • Working knowledge of third‑party catastrophe models/aggregation tools.
  • Knowledge of insurance concepts.
  • Technical coding experience including SQL, R and VBA.
  • Experience developing solutions via data visualisation platforms.
  • Ability to work independently while integrating into a time‑critical business environment.
  • Experience working with offshore business partners.
