We are looking for a Manager to join our growing Private Client Tax team, where a significant part of the role will involve advising on trusts, estates and their beneficiaries.

You will play a key role in managing and overseeing the delivery of the trust and estates private client offering for the team, including identifying opportunities to improve internal processes and efficiencies. You will also be involved in driving the delivery of personal tax and trust advisory work, including preparing reports and leading discussions with prospective and existing clients.

You will mentor and oversee junior staff to support their ongoing development, provide technical training, and ensure the effective day-to-day delivery of compliance and advisory services.

This is a key client-facing role requiring you to engage confidently and professionally with trustees, executors, high net worth individuals and other professional advisers. Strong technical expertise is essential, as is the ability to clearly communicate complex tax matters to non-specialists.

This role can be based in either our City or West End office, with hybrid working available.

  • Provide support to partners and directors in the effective running of the team and in winning new work.
  • Managing a client portfolio, the greater part of which will include trusts and estates, with multiple sources of income and gains.
  • Driving the delivery of technical advisory work on the portfolio.
  • Dealing with one off advisory and compliance assignments.
  • A key point of contact for the client.
  • Dealing with a range of capital gains tax and inheritance tax issues.
  • Overseeing the accounting and UK tax return filling process for a broad variety of clients.
  • Monitoring work progress against targets.
  • Providing feedback and giving input into staff appraisals, as well as direct responsibility for appraising staff.
  • Monitor progress and encourage the personal development of all team members.
  • Ability to produce written work to a high standard.
  • Make suggestions and implement changes in order to improve efficiency within the team.

  • CTA and/or STEP qualified (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong background in UK trusts and estates
  • Solid technical private client tax knowledge, including anti‑avoidance
  • Experience with trust and IHT compliance
  • Confident managing HMRC enquiries and settlements
  • Strong advisory and technical writing skills
  • Proven people management and coaching experience
  • Commercially aware and client focused
