Actuary, Risk Manager/Analyst
Location: Can be located in the Bristol, London or Watford office.

Job PurposeThis role is to join the actuarial student scheme at Canada Life, designed to provide breadth of experience to those studying towards actuarial qualification. The first rotation will be in the Bulk Purchase Annuities (BPA) team in New Business Pricing, supporting pricing and execution of bulk annuity transactions.
Key Accountabilities- Support the pricing and execution of bulk annuity transactions.
- Accurately manipulate, interpret, and check data; model liability cashflows; understand business metrics related to profit and capital.
- Identify opportunities to improve pricing tools and process efficiency.
- Collaborate with BPA teams (reinsurance, Data Verification, Member Options) and adapt working techniques to meet team requirements.
- Apply technical actuarial techniques with awareness of business and commercial impacts.
- Progress towards actuarial qualification as a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
- Develop and maintain bulk annuity pricing methodologies and models in accordance with Technical Actuarial Standards.
- Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
- Understand and apply risk management procedures relevant to the role; control, monitor and report on business activities and raise key risks.
- Maintain actuarial control framework and meet governance requirements.
- Comply with company policies, regulatory, professional and legal requirements.
- Student actuary with previous actuarial experience.
- Proven numerical, analytical, problem-solving and data manipulation skills with attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel; experience with Prophet is advantageous.
- Experience working with complex data and effectively communicating conclusions and recommendations.
- Strong oral and written communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent project management skills; capable of working independently and as part of a team.
- Interest in Bulk Purchase Annuities and knowledge of defined benefit pension schemes.
