Associate - Strategic Advisory; TMT

PJT Partners is a global advisory-focused investment bank. This description focuses on the role and qualifications for the Associate position within the TMT team of Strategic Advisory.

The Advisory group is an experienced investment banking team focused on a diverse set of industries, including technology, media, telecommunications, natural resources, power & utilities, industrials, healthcare, and real estate. Associates are responsible for supporting the execution of transactions, due diligence, valuation analyses, and preparation of client materials.

• Evaluating, structuring, and recommending financial and strategic alternatives, including mergers, acquisitions, asset sales, divestitures, and other strategic combinations.

• Leading day-to-day execution of transactions, including due diligence, valuation analysis, and negotiation of contracts and agreements; coordinating with senior management and analysts.

• Analyzing financial data and developments in financial markets relevant to PJT Partners’ business.

• Conducting research of targeted industries for investment purposes.

• Performing valuation analyses of prospective investment opportunities and assessing financial risks.

• Comparing a target company’s financial data with peers to inform forecasts and industry trends.

• Designing and developing quantitative models to assess the economic performance of targeted companies.

• Preparing written analysis and evaluations of investment opportunities for internal use and client review.

• Participating in client meetings, negotiations, and due diligence sessions; supporting deal execution and business development.

• Mentoring and training junior team members.

The Associate will be a key member of PJT’s expanding TMT team with involvement in deal execution and business development. The role spans multiple sectors, and due to lean deal teams, bankers may work in sectors or countries outside their main focus. Candidates should have knowledge of and interest in the Media and Software industries for this role within PJT’s TMT sector in Strategic Advisory.

PJT Partners seeks motivated individuals with demonstrated excellence. The following qualifications are preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree required

• 2–5 years of relevant investment banking or corporate development experience

• Experience with financial modeling, including operating and valuation models for complex transactions

• Experience across financing (equity, equity-linked, debt) and strategic advisory

• Knowledge of and experience in the TMT industry, particularly media and technology

• Resume submitted in PDF format

• Fluency in English; knowledge of another European language preferred

• Strong quantitative and analytical skills

• Strategic and creative thinking with strong written and verbal communication skills
