Credit Risk Analyst (m/f/d)
IN SHORTSupport the Credit team by assessing and reviewing counter parties' creditworthiness and KYC status, recommending and monitoring counter party credit limits, and managing credit exposures. In parallel, the other key aspect of the role is to be a professional business partner to Front Office, developing a trustworthy relationship.
WHAT WILL YOU DO- Co-ordination with internal stakeholders - being a professional business partner to Front Office and communicating sound credit opinions in a convincing, understandable and concise manner to non-credit stakeholders. Ability to find innovative solutions which address risk reduction whilst responding to commercial requirements. Providing support to Front Office with credit issues.
- Counter party assessment - analyse counter parties' credit worthiness, primarily through analysis of their financial statements, in order to recommend appropriate credit limits. Regular renewal and continuous monitoring of counter party status.
- Credit reporting and control - monitoring credit exposure and risk measures and anticipation and management of breaches and exceptions. Pro-actively assessing exposure and the impact of potential transactions to provide an advisory role to Front Office.
- Counter party maintenance - developing and maintaining positive relationships with counter party's credit departments to maximise the credit lines granted to SEFE in order to capitalise on liquidity and trading opportunities. Support in negotiating trading documentation.
- Managing projects related to credit risk, requiring coordination with other departments. Requirement to be able to autonomously drive projects and present workable results within deadlines to management.
- 'Know Your Customer' (KYC) assessment - analyse counter parties' KYC status under the company's established assesment process, in order to recommend an appropriate KYC status. Regular renewal and continuous monitoring of counter party's KYC status.
- When required, attend to daily reporting and external margining requirements, including contacting counter parties, dispute resolution, and follow up.
- Input and maintenance of related credit and KYC data in the 'Credit Risk Cube' database
- Providing advice and support to other team members around areas of expertise, as well as general exposure management.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification.
- Significant experience in a Credit Risk, Credit Analysis, or Risk Management role within an energy company, commodity trading house, bank, or rating agency.
- Strong knowledge of energy and commodity trading markets
, with expertise in one or more of the following sectors:
natural gas, power, oil, LNG, or related commodities
. - Deep understanding of Credit Risk Management principles, including credit assessment, counter party analysis, exposure measurement, and risk mitigation within commodity trading environments.
- Proven experience assessing counter parties and managing credit risk associated with physical and financial commodity transactions
. - Strong understanding of energy markets, commodity value chains, trading structures, and the risks inherent in physical and financial energy products.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to develop well-reasoned, data-driven credit recommendations and present complex risk assessments in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to identify market trends, emerging risks, and key industry developments across energy and commodity markets and communicate actionable insights to senior management.
- Solid understanding of KYC onboarding, customer due diligence, and counter party assessment processes.
- Creative, commercial, and solution-oriented mindset with the ability to balance risk management and business objectives.
- Proven ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic commodity trading environment with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across trading, risk, finance, and commercial teams.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
