Specialty Finance Senior Associate

Position Overview

Neuberger Berman Specialty Finance (NBSF) seeks a highly motivated individual to join the Specialty Finance & Fintech Investment Team. The role focuses on building and managing a portfolio of short‑duration, income‑producing credit assets in the consumer, small business and hard asset segments.

• Develop cash flow credit models to assess deal returns across various structures (whole loans, credit facilities, ABS tranches).
• Underwrite and execute whole loans and credit facilities.
• Build comprehensive financial models and evaluate different deal structures.
• Interact with investors, communicate strategy and performance, and prepare investor presentations in PowerPoint.
• Support due diligence of loan originators, typically new private fintech companies.
• Price and model securitizations using Intex or in‑house Python/Excel models.

• Quantitative degree preferred (mathematics, statistics, econometrics, computer science, or related discipline).
• 3‑7 years of tier1 buy‑side or sell‑side experience in investment banking, securitization banking, asset‑based finance, ABS portfolio management or asset‑based lending.
• Extensive trading experience with Intex and street interaction.
• Excel/VBA proficiency; database and programming skills are a plus.
• In‑depth experience in securitization markets and ability to analyze specialty‑finance companies and assets.
• Intellectually curious, resourceful, organized, and detail‑oriented.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self‑motivated, collaborative, and able to work in a demanding, dynamic environment.
