Senior Commercial Accountant

Central London | Hybrid Working | Global Energy Business

We’re partnering with a global energy business looking to appoint a Senior Commercial Accountant into a high performing finance team supporting a complex trading operation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant with experience in energy, commodities or another trading environment who enjoys combining technical accounting with commercial insight. You’ll work closely with finance, commercial and operational teams, playing a key role in financial reporting, business partnering and supporting new business activity.

• Lead the accounting for complex trading activities, including mark to market reporting and derivative accounting.
• Support monthly and year end reporting, providing analysis and commentary on financial performance.
• Act as the technical accounting lead, advising on IFRS and ensuring new commercial activity is structured and accounted for appropriately.
• Partner with commercial stakeholders to support new business opportunities and provide financial insight.
• Develop profitability reporting, KPIs and analysis to support strategic decision making.
• Take ownership of operational cost reporting and budgeting.
• Drive continuous improvements across finance processes, controls and reporting.

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
• Experience with in energy, commodities or another trading environment.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, particularly financial instruments and derivative accounting.
• Confident partnering with both finance and commercial stakeholders.
• Strong Excel skills, with exposure to ERP systems. Experience with Power BI, Python or VBA would be advantageous.
