About the roleThis role provides essential support to the day-to-day running of the finance function. You will deliver administrative and transactional support across a wide range of finance-related activities and projects, helping the function operate efficiently and accurately. Strong numeracy, analytical skills, organisation and attention to detail are critical, as you will be working with financial data, identifying discrepancies and managing multiple tasks and priorities.
You will build strong working relationships across the group, so clear and effective communication skills are essential. The role involves handling sensitive financial information and data, requiring discretion, professionalism and a high level of integrity.
We will support the finance team with a range of administrative and transactional tasks. Some of the activities you will be involved in include:
- Supporting the processing of purchase invoices, supplier payments and customer invoices
- Assisting with accounts payable, accounts receivable and credit control activities
- Maintaining accurate financial records and updating finance systems
- Supporting bank and account reconciliations
- Processing expenses and checking supporting documentation
- Responding to routine finance queries from colleagues, customers and suppliers
- Assisting with payroll administration and finance-related checks
- Supporting the preparation of financial reports, metrics and management information
- Helping with month‑end, year‑end and audit activities
- Supporting general finance administration and process improvement projects
- A genuine interest in developing a career in finance or accounting
- Confidence working with numbers and a willingness to build your numerical skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- A careful and accurate approach to your work
- The ability to handle confidential information appropriately
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- Curiosity, motivation and a willingness to learn
- An interest in how technology and AI can support finance processes
- A minimum of five GCSEs at grades 9 to 4, or A
* to C, including English and Maths - A good GCSE grade in Maths
- A relevant A Level, such as Maths, Economics, Business Studies or Accounting, would be beneficial but is not essential
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Some experience of using Excel, or a willingness to develop your skills in formulas, spreadsheets and data
- Confidence using digital tools and an interest in learning more about AI and automation
- The ability to organise your workload and complete tasks accurately
- A willingness to ask questions, learn from others and take responsibility for assigned tasks
