Pensions Actuarial Consultant - Assistant Manager

As part of this role you’ll be working in Isio’s Actuarial & Consulting team alongside over 400 pension experts – actuaries and consultants, advising a diverse range of clients and stakeholders across the private, public and not‑for‑profit sectors.

We advise on everything from helping trustees and sponsors to manage their defined benefit plans, running large‑scale communication projects and implementing alternative reward and pension provision. The range of work we get involved with is vast and there’ll be opportunities for you to gain good experiences, focus on specialising in particular roles and put your skills to the test.

What does the role entail?

We’re looking for experienced actuarial students with relevant UK DB pensions industry experience to join our team.

As a challenger in the industry, we are looking for individuals with excellent pensions consulting and technical skills
, a commercial outlook and an entrepreneurial mindset
.

Day To Day, You Will Be
  • Playing a key role in the delivery of UK DB pensions advice to clients – managing client projects directly, and/or supporting partners and directors to deliver to clients.
  • Being involved in the technical aspects of projects while building relationships with clients, working as part of a team, and developing those around you.
  • Assisting in the development of new business with existing and new clients.
  • As an Assistant Manager, you will lead typical projects while supporting junior colleagues: performing actuarial valuations and calculations for Trustees, advising them on running their schemes, developing pension strategies for corporate, public and not‑for‑profit organisations, writing and delivering communications projects for members, providing insurance transaction and scheme consolidation advice, and executing data projects such as benefit rectifications, pensions dashboards and GMP equalisation.

Whatever you’re looking for, we can build a role to suit you and help you develop.

Where is the role?

We can offer locations in Isio offices:
Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Croydon, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester and Reading. Duties can be performed on‑site or from home on a hybrid basis.

What We're Looking For
  • A great communicator – someone who can explain complex problems simply.
  • Enthusiasm and motivation – an appetite for solving problems and delivering excellent advice.
  • Excellent project management and client delivery skills – especially managing multiple demands.
  • A great team worker – as part of client project teams, in‑office teams and by supporting the development of others.
  • Commercial skills – a curious mind to help develop the business and seek new opportunities.
  • Technical experience – experience in the UK DB pensions industry or relevant actuarial skills.
  • Qualifications – progress toward an actuarial qualification, FIA/FFA or equivalent; apprenticeship, internship or industrial placement experience is valued.
