Operational Risk Manager (Part-Time)

£60k - £100k per annum (pro rata) + bonus and benefits

Are you an experienced Operational Risk Manager looking for a flexible, part-time opportunity where you can make a real impact?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regulated financial services environment, working closely with senior leadership to strengthen and evolve an established Operational Risk Framework. You'll play a key role in helping the business identify, assess and manage operational risk, while supporting strong governance, regulatory compliance and a positive risk culture across the organisation.

What you'll be doing

Support the ongoing development, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Operational Risk Framework, ensuring it remains aligned with regulatory requirements and business needs.
Coordinate and facilitate operational risk assessments across the business, reviewing and challenging departmental assessments to ensure consistency, effective control evaluation and appropriate risk scoring.
Maintain the Operational Risk Register, monitor incidents, near misses and emerging risks, identify trends and root causes, and track risk mitigation actions through to completion.
Assist with the development and monitoring of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), risk appetite metrics and the annual Business-Wide Risk Assessment (BWRA).
Produce high-quality risk reporting, dashboards and management information for senior leadership, including the Executive Risk and Compliance Committee (ERCC), while escalating significant risks and control weaknesses where appropriate.
Support the firm's Operational Resilience programme, including scenario testing, business change initiatives, outsourcing risk reviews and strategic projects.
Contribute to regulatory activities, including ICARA, audit responses and the review of operational risk policies and procedures.
Promote a strong risk culture by delivering guidance, encouraging first-line ownership of risks and supporting effective risk management across the business.

What you'll bring

Essential

Experience in an Operational Risk role within an FCA-regulated financial services organisation.
Strong knowledge of operational risk frameworks, governance and risk management best practice.
Experience facilitating, reviewing and constructively challenging operational risk assessments.
Excellent analytical, organisational and report-writing skills.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to influence and provide constructive challenge at all levels.
A collaborative, organised and pragmatic approach with excellent attention to detail and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Desirable

Knowledge of MIFIDPRU, ICARA and Operational Resilience requirements.
Experience preparing reports for Executive Committees and Boards.
