Job Description

JERA Global Markets’ Credit function is responsible for managing counter party credit risk across a global energy trading portfolio but focused on EMEA and the Americas. The team assesses a diverse range of counter parties and transactions, from major listed utilities and global trading companies to privately owned businesses, special-purpose vehicles and structured energy projects. Based in JERAGM’s London office, the Credit Analyst will report to the Credit Risk Manager and work closely with Credit Analysts, Quantitative Credit Analysts and teams across Trading, Legal, Compliance, Treasury, Market Risk and IT.

The role is responsible for delivering robust credit assessments, monitoring portfolio exposures and supporting commercially balanced credit risk decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct
    timely and thorough credit assessments of new and existing counter parties, identifying key risks, recommending internal credit ratings and limits, and proposing appropriate credit structures and contractual protections.
  • Evaluate
    the credit exposure arising from new and existing transactions, working with Quantitative Credit Analysts to incorporate current exposure, potential future exposure and other relevant risk measures into credit recommendations.
  • Negotiate
    credit terms
    , financial covenants and credit support provisions in commodity trading agreements, in collaboration with Legal, Trading and Origination teams.
  • Monitor daily counter party and portfolio credit exposures
    , investigate limit utilisation or breaches, and recommend appropriate risk mitigation actions to ensure trading activity remains within approved parameters.
  • Analyse
    relevant sectors
    , regions and energy market developments to identify emerging credit risks, assess their potential impact on counter parties and the portfolio, and provide clear updates to Credit Management and Credit Committees.
  • Support
    the onboarding and periodic review of counter parties ensuring accurate, complete and timely credit information is maintained in the relevant systems.
  • Prepare
    accurate and insightful credit risk reporting
    , including key risk indicators, portfolio analysis, stress testing and scenario analysis, to support management oversight and informed decision-making.
  • Participate to credit risk processes improvements and data integrity to ensure accurate output, operational efficiency, and control implementation.
Qualifications Core Requirements
  • Experience with in commodity or energy trading firms or bank.
  • Demonstrated financial and credit analysis capability
    , including the ability to interpret financial statements, assess qualitative and quantitative risk factors, and form a clear, evidence-based view of counter party creditworthiness, and provide clear credit recommendation.
  • Ability to deliver accurate work within changing deadlines
    , prioritising competing requests, working autonomously when required and collaborating effectively with colleagues across Credit, Trading, Legal, Risk and other support functions.
