Hybrid working (3 days per week in office)
Day Rate - up to £750 per day (Inside IR35)
We are supporting a large, complex, UK-based consumer business with the hire of a Senior Finance Manager – Group Reporting on an initial 4 month contract.
This is a high-profile group reporting role, sitting at the centre of the finance function and working closely with senior finance leadership. The role has significant exposure to Executive Committee, Audit Committee, Board and external stakeholders, and plays a key role in shaping how group financial performance is communicated externally.
The position would suit a technically strong, commercially minded finance leader who is comfortable operating in a listed or similarly complex reporting environment.
The role- Take ownership of key Group-level accounting judgements, including impairment reviews (goodwill, assets, store-level), adjusting items and segmental information
- Act as a primary point of contact for business unit commercial finance teams on technical accounting and reporting matters
- Support preparation of interim and annual Group financial statements and monthly management reporting
- Assist with Audit Committee papers on complex and judgemental finance matters
- Liaise with external auditors on key technical matters
- Provide day-to-day coaching and technical support to the wider Group Reporting team
- Support the Group's compliance with IFRS, UK listing rules and emerging regulatory requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with post-qualification experience at Senior Manager level
- Experience of large, listed group consolidations under IFRS
- FMCG or Retail sector experience strongly preferred — recent, relevant industry knowledge is important given the pace and judgement calls required during half-year close
- Confident operating in a fast-paced, short-and-sharp reporting cycle (approx. 5 weeks from close to results)
- Comfortable working independently and hitting the ground running with minimal onboarding time
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills — able to translate technical accounting issues for non-technical audiences
- Knowledge of pensions and share scheme accounting is beneficial but not essential
- Resilient under pressure, with the right team-oriented attitude — this is a "everyone pitches in" culture during peak periods
This role offers the opportunity to step into a visible, value-adding group finance position, supporting a major consumer organisation through a critical reporting period.
