Your role

Are you someone who enjoys financial analysis and detecting potential risks in live M&A transactions? Do you like working in an environment where empowerment, challenge and excellence are highly valued?

  • be a Credit Analyst for Leveraged finance transactions: be involved alongside the Credit Officer in the underwriting, recommendations and the decision making processes
  • independently analyze credit risks and engage with the front office to ensure transactions are consistent with UBS's underwriting risk appetite
  • show the ability to work autonomously through the extensive Due Diligence process, identifying key business drivers, specific risk issues, actively challenging during due diligence calls, and highlighting any information gaps to the business teams
  • perform fundamental financial analysis for prospective leveraged transactions and corporate borrower's (covering financial, commercial, legal, tax, environmental & structuring)
  • demonstrate full understanding of financial modelling, working on the production of Base and Downside cases ensuring that they reflect all key drivers and the due diligence findings
  • contribute actively to a written credit memo for CRC Senior Management
  • assign risk ratings and loss given default designation, prepare reporting deliverables to track limit utilization
  • review loan documentation to ensure that it corresponds with internal approvals and adequately covers all transaction risks.
Your team

The IB CRC Credit Risk Control team is responsible for independently assessing transaction risks, for constructively challenging all diligence work and financial modelling produced by the front office and for monitoring and controlling all risks in the IB loan portfolio. The team serves as the firm's second line of defense and is charged with independently assessing all risks associated with the origination, distribution and retained portfolio of corporate and leveraged finance transactions.

It is directly responsible for assigning risk ratings and for ensuring our analytical standards are in compliance with regulatory expectations.

Your expertise

You have:

  • a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant area of concentration and/or some level of formal credit training. No CFA required but level 1 or 2 would be viewed favorably
  • strong knowledge of financial accounting concepts
  • ideally relevant working experience in a leveraged finance transaction environment
  • computer proficiency required in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • strong oral and written communication skills

You are:

  • a strong collaborator and confident communicator
  • open to learning numerous applications specific to the Risk function
  • willing to provide flexibility to support business priorities and key deliverables, which may include working evenings and weekends to meet business needs
  • curious to explore how AI can improve how we build, deliver, and optimize workflows. You do this with sound judgment - validating outputs and aligning with policies, risk standards, and ethical use.
