Assistant Finance Manager

We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Finance Manager roles within the Royal Marsden Finance Team. This role sits within the Corporate Services Finance Team and reports into the Corporate Finance Manager. This role will be responsible for providing high-quality, timely and accurate financial management information to a range of clinical departments. You will be a key point of contact within the team for budget holders and service managers. You will also provide support and input to quarterly forecasts and annual business plans, projects, business cases and service developments.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated with excellent communication skills and the ability to build and maintain relationship both internally within Finance and with business stakeholders. This role is initially a 6-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of a further 6-month extension subject to service requirements and funding availability.

To provide an efficient and professional management accounting service to Departments within the Divisions/Directorates and the Trust. The postholder will be responsible for producing reports, projections and analysis and will liaise with budget holders and other managers to generate intelligence to support forecasting and the medium term business planning process.

Job Description and

Person Specification:

1. To be responsible for the production of the monthly budget statements and associated reports for a wide range of budgets in accordance with agreed timetables 2. To develop and maintain an integrated financial performance report, including a year end forecast, highlighting key variances and trends in activity and finance, commenting on influencing factors and advising on any necessary management action.
3. To meet regularly with budget holders and Senior Managers to assess financial performance and to provide financial management information, analysis and advice to them regarding key risks and critical success factors in achieving financial targets.
4. To ensure budget holders and managers have an awareness of financial performance requirements, including the need for budgetary control and adherence to SFIs, and to provide financial awareness training where necessary.
