Qualified Accountant (Oil and Gas Background) Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Qualified Accountant with a strong background in the Oil and Gas sector to join our team in Central London. This is a part-time role offering a competitive salary of £80,000 – £100,000 per annum (pro-rata). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building and leading a controlled, scalable, and decision-useful finance function for our operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency in all financial processes.
Responsibilities
- Finance Platform and Close
:
Lead the design and implementation of Sun Systems, reconcile opening balances, and maintain robust balance-sheet controls. - Joint Venture and Drilling Finance
:
Establish and manage cash-call, JIB, AFE, and drilling-cost processes, ensuring seamless partner billings and reconciliations. - Treasury and Planning
:
Maintain short- and long-range cash forecasts, lead budgeting and reforecasting processes, and develop downside and sensitivity scenarios. - Management and Board Reporting
:
Deliver comprehensive monthly accounts and Board packs, providing insights into plan vs. actual performance, cash flow, commitments, and risks. - Assurance and Compliance
:
Coordinate IFRS accounts, UK audits, and tax compliance, while establishing a finance framework for operations in Equatorial Guinea. - Finance Leadership
:
Set clear responsibilities for staff, secondees, and advisers, ensuring strong financial control and decision-making processes.
Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Extensive experience in the Oil and Gas industry,
with a deep understanding of joint venture accounting and drilling finance
. - Proficiency in Sun Systems is essential.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, UK audit, and tax regulations.
- Proven ability to lead and implement financial systems and processes.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Day-to-Day
- Oversee the implementation and operation of Sun Systems, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Manage cash flow, funding, and forecasting to support operational and strategic decisions.
- Collaborate with partners, advisers, and internal teams to ensure compliance with joint venture agreements and financial controls.
- Prepare and present detailed financial reports to the Board, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
- Monitor and manage drilling costs, partner billings, and financial commitments.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements in the UK and Equatorial Guinea.
