Head of Finance

Accountable for overseeing financial operations and ensuring the preparation and presentation of accurate, timely monthly management accounts, robust financial control, regulatory compliance, and effective financial reporting across the business. The role supports budget monitoring, VAT and statutory reporting, cash flow forecasting, group reporting, and business development activity, working closely with the Directors, management team and wider finance teams to support strategic decision‑making, operational performance, and the continued development of a high‑performing finance function.

• Act as the senior financial adviser to the Directors and leadership team, providing clear recommendations on financial performance, strategic options, investment decisions, risk exposure and resource allocation.
• Prepare, oversee and deliver monthly management accounts, including detailed commentary, analysis of performance, trends, variances, budgets and forecasts.
• Develop and own the organisation’s financial strategy, ensuring financial plans, forecasts, funding requirements and performance measures are aligned with business objectives and long‑term growth plans.
• Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting and long‑term financial planning processes, working with department heads and senior stakeholders to set realistic targets, monitor performance and ensure effective financial discipline across the business.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, accruals, costing analysis and variance analysis to support operational decision‑making and ensure optimal use of financial resources.
• Oversee statutory accounts preparation, IFRS financial statements, year‑end reporting and the annual audit process, acting as the key point of contact for external auditors, tax advisers and other professional advisers while ensuring all internal, statutory and group deadlines are met.
• Ensure accurate and timely VAT returns and compliance with relevant tax regulations, including corporate income tax, VAT and other applicable taxes.
• Support group reporting requirements, including intercompany reconciliations, multi‑currency and FX consolidation, and responses to requests from Group Finance.
• Develop, implement and monitor key performance indicators to analyse financial performance and provide actionable insight to support strategic decision‑making.
• Provide leadership on financial governance, ensuring appropriate policies, delegated authorities, internal controls and risk management procedures are in place, regularly reviewed and embedded across the organisation.
• Maintain robust internal controls, identify and mitigate financial risks, safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity across finance processes.
• Collaborate with the Directors and management team on business development costs, new business assessments, project work, cost analysis and cost reduction reviews.
• Identify opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of management reporting, financial systems, processes, automation and integration with wider business systems.
• Contribute to the development of enhanced forecasting models, data analytics and reporting tools to improve insight, planning and decision‑making.
• Work collaboratively with finance teams across the group, where applicable, and provide financial support and insight to non‑financial stakeholders across the business.
• Undertake all activities in accordance with applicable policies and procedures to ensure business interests are protected and legal, commercial and financial risks are identified and minimised.
