Finance Analyst

Harper May is working with a UK-based consumer durables manufacturer with a strong market position across home and garden products. The business is privately owned and has grown steadily over the past decade through a combination of organic expansion and selective acquisitions. With recent investment in systems and process improvement, the finance function is now being strengthened to support more granular margin tracking and operational decision-making across its distribution network.

They are now seeking a Finance Analyst to join the team.

The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the delivery of monthly financial reporting, working closely with commercial and supply chain teams to drive financial insight across the business. This is a hands-on, analytical role that will give you broad exposure to the full P&L and direct access to senior leadership.

• Prepare monthly management accounts and conduct detailed variance analysis against budget and prior year
• Support cost-to-serve analysis, focusing on procurement, logistics, and warehousing efficiency
• Build and maintain financial models for product-line profitability and channel performance
• Assist with quarterly forecasting and rolling cashflow projections
• Conduct ad-hoc commercial analysis to support pricing and product mix decisions
• Support year-end close procedures and balance sheet reconciliations

What we are looking for

• ACA, ACCA, or CIMA part-qualified or finalist status
• Prior experience in a trading or distribution environment, or similar cost-conscious business
• Proficiency in Excel and experience with financial modelling
• Strong grasp of working capital management and contribution margin analysis
• Ability to translate numbers into commercial insight and communicate clearly to non-finance teams
• Organised, detail-conscious, and comfortable with competing priorities
