Hays is delighted to be partnering with a leading UK health charity with income in excess of 20m. The organisation funds world-class research, drives advocacy and supports a large community of beneficiaries across the UK. As it continues to deliver an ambitious long-term strategy, it is seeking a Head of Finance to provide strong financial leadership and support informed decision-making across the organisation.
This is an opportunity to join a well-established charity with an international reach and a clear sense of purpose, where finance is viewed as a key enabler of organisational success. This organisation is based in Canary Wharf and works one day per week in the office.
Your new role Reporting to the Director of Finance & IT, you will lead the day-to-day running of the finance function and manage a small team. You will be responsible for monthly management reporting, reforecasting, budgeting, year-end accounts and the annual audit process.
The role combines operational and strategic responsibilities, with significant exposure to senior stakeholders across the organisation. You will provide insightful financial analysis, maintain robust financial controls and support managers in making informed financial decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading the finance team and overseeing day-to-day financial operations.
Preparing monthly management accounts and financial reports.
Coordinating budgeting and forecasting processes.
Leading the year-end accounts and audit.
Supporting and partnering with budget holders and senior leaders across the organisation.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a qualified accountant or finalist with strong technical accounting skills and experience operating in a senior finance role within the charity sector.
You will bring:
Experience working within a charity finance environment.
Strong financial reporting, budgeting and controls experience.
Knowledge of Charity SORP.A collaborative approach with excellent business partnering skills.
Previous experience managing and developing staff.
The ability to operate both strategically and hands-on when required.
