As a Relationship Director, you will be responsible for identifying, originating and executing business opportunities across a portfolio of insurance clients. You will lead the coordination and project management of transactions across the International Corporate and investment Bank, working closely with product, risk, legal, portfolio management and execution teams to deliver successful client outcomes. You will possess strong networking and relationship management skills, enabling you to build and maintain effective relationships with C-suite executives, key business influencers ("KBIs"), product specialists and other stakeholders both internally and externally.
You will develop and implement business development plans across a selective portfolio of the Bank's most sophisticated and complex clients. The role requires a high level of commercial acumen, as sales activity is conducted within a highly competitive marketplace and often involves structuring bespoke banking solutions for a demanding client base. Clients will expect exceptional standards of professionalism, responsiveness and service, and you will be expected to represent Barclays accordingly.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Extensive client coverage experience, with preference given to candidates with experience covering the insurance sector and/or non-bank financial institutions (NBFI).
- Strong technical knowledge, including financial statement analysis, credit analysis, and experience in loan and trade origination and deal execution. Knowledge of the insurance sector would be advantageous.
- Demonstrated knowledge of corporate and investment banking products, services and policies.
- Excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills.
- Credit risk management expertise, including a requirement to complete risk accreditation within 12 months of appointment, together with any other targeted learning and annual accreditation requirements, and to apply these skills effectively on a day-to-day basis.
- The ability to operate effectively within a regulated environment, demonstrating strong judgement, risk awareness and adherence to Barclays' control framework and conduct standards.
- A commitment to successfully completing and maintaining all required CISI qualifications and continuing professional development requirements relevant to the role.
Desirable skills include:
- A strong understanding of complex payments, liquidity, debt products and organisational structures.
- Good awareness of Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank products and services, including an understanding of key performance drivers such as income, RWAs, pricing and credit grading, together with knowledge of the competitive landscape in UK corporate banking.
- Knowledge of the UK insurance market, including insurers, reinsurers, brokers, MGAs and wider sector dynamics.
- The role requires regular travel to client locations and industry events, and therefore a high degree of mobility and flexibility.
This role is deemed as a Certified role under the PRA & UK Financial Conduct Authority - Individual Accountabilities Regulations and may require the role holder to hold mandatory regulatory qualifications or the minimum qualifications to meet internal company benchmarks.
This role is based in London.
