Finance Assistant – Temporary Contract

Hybrid, with 2–3 days per week in the office We are recruiting for an experienced Finance Assistant to join a busy finance team in Lancaster on an initial three-month temporary contract. This is a varied role covering multiple areas of finance, including Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, reconciliations and financial data analysis. It would suit someone with a broad finance background who is comfortable managing a varied workload and investigating queries through to resolution.

Key responsibilities Supporting Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger activities Completing account reconciliations Investigating and resolving discrepancies Processing and reviewing high volumes of financial data Using Excel to manipulate and analyse large datasets Responding to finance-related queries from teams across the business Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records Providing wider support to the finance team as required Skills and experience required Previous experience within a varied Finance Assistant or transactional finance role Strong Sales Ledger and Purchase Ledger knowledge Confident completing reconciliations and resolving discrepancies Strong Excel and data-manipulation skills Comfortable working with large volumes of financial information Excellent communication and relationship-building skills A tenacious and investigative approach to resolving queries Able to work independently and quickly adapt to a new environment Strong attention to detail and organisational skills This is an excellent opportunity for an adaptable finance professional who enjoys variety, takes ownership of their workload and is confident working across different areas of finance.
