Role SummaryLead and oversee all financial activities of the country program, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, strong financial stewardship, and compliance with organizational, donor, and statutory and legal requirements. Manage and strengthen financial processes, systems, internal controls, and risk management practices to support operational efficiency and financial integrity. Provide strategic financial insights and decision support to country leadership, while leading and developing the finance function to ensure effective budgeting, forecasting, reporting, compliance, and performance management aligned with organizational objectives and values.
Project OverviewMedair is currently implementing Health, Nutrition, WASH, Shelter/NFI projects in Sudan.
Workplace & ConditionsKhartoum Country office, Sudan, with frequent visits to project locations.
Responsibilities Financial Management, Reporting & Treasury Management- Lead financial planning, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, treasury management, and grant financial oversight to ensure effective stewardship of donor and organizational funds.
- Deliver accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting, monitor performance against budgets and grants, and drive corrective actions where required.
- Ensure compliance with donor requirements, statutory regulations, organizational policies, and accounting standards through strong financial controls and governance frameworks.
- Lead financial risk assessments and mitigation plans across finance, programmes, logistics, and procurement, while coordinating audits and implementing recommendations.
- Oversee grant financial management throughout the project lifecycle, including budgeting, expenditure monitoring, reporting, and project close-out.
- Strengthen the financial systems, processes, and controls through continuous improvement, automation, and finance transformation initiatives to enhance efficiency, transparency, and donor compliance.
- Provide strategic financial analysis, modelling, and performance insights to support leadership decision-making and achievement of organizational objectives.
- Partner with programme teams on budgets, funding proposals, resource allocation, and scenario planning to ensure sustainability and effective use of funds.
- Lead, develop, and mentor finance staff while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Build financial management capability across programme teams and partners, and serve as a trusted advisor to the Country Director and senior leadership team.
Competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a relevant technical field.
- Chartered Certified Accountant, i.e ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CMA
- Proficient in English (spoken and written);
Arabic desirable - Five to eight years of finance experience and external stakeholders, acting as a supportive and collaborative team member with strong communication skills.
- Exercises sound judgement, diplomacy, and discretion while effectively managing competing priorities, delegating responsibilities, and performing under pressure to meet deadlines.
