Summary

As an Associate Director within the Oil, Gas & Chemicals M&A team, you will support senior team members in the origination and execution of M&A and financing transactions. The role provides exposure to cross-border transactions across the sector, with opportunities to develop expertise across both advisory and financing products.

As an Associate Director within the Oil, Gas & Chemicals M&A team, you will support senior team members in the origination and execution of M&A and financing transactions. The role provides exposure to cross-border transactions across the sector, with opportunities to develop expertise across both advisory and financing products. You will be involved in financial and valuation analysis, financial modelling, company and industry research, due diligence activities, and the preparation of client materials.

You will work closely with deal teams across the Bank, supporting transactions from pitch through to closing. The role also involves day-to-day project management, stakeholder coordination, and oversight of work produced by analysts and interns. This position is suited to candidates looking for broad exposure to complex transactions within the Oil, Gas & Chemicals sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the origination and execution of M&A and financing transactions across the Oil, Gas & Chemicals sector.
  • Conduct financial, valuation and company analyses using industry-relevant methodologies.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models to assess operating performance, capital structures and potential transactions.
  • Prepare client presentations covering strategic alternatives, M&A opportunities, capital markets activity and corporate finance topics.
  • Perform industry, market, company and target research, including benchmarking and competitive analysis.
  • Participate in transaction due diligence and support the drafting of marketing, transaction and documentation materials.
  • Lead the preparation of marketing and transaction materials in partnership with senior members of the team.
  • Coordinate with deal team members across the Bank to support transaction delivery.
  • Manage day-to-day execution work streams, stakeholder engagement and project coordination on live transactions.
  • Review, coach and provide guidance on work produced by analysts and interns.

Qualifications

We welcome candidates with significant M&A experience, relevant sector expertise, or a combination of both.

  • Background in M&A, investment banking, project finance, structured finance, debt capital markets, equity capital markets or other transaction-focused environments.
  • Exposure to a leading investment banking platform is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Energy, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Metals & Mining, Natural Resources or broader industrial sectors is highly valued.
  • Proven track record of supporting end-to-end transaction execution, ideally across both M&A and financing transactions.
  • Strong financial modelling, valuation and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to prepare client-facing materials, conduct company and industry research, and work closely with senior deal teams.
  • Strong project management, stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, review and support the development of junior team members.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and financial databases such as Bloomberg, Capital IQ and Mergermarket.
