Allianz Trade Specialty Credit Mid Term is seeking a Senior Credit Underwriter, a position to be based in London with experience in Export Trade Finance &/or Structured Credit in order to work in the deployment and the steering of its credit portfolio. This Senior Credit Underwriter will be responsible of a dedicated credit underwriting team, which has to identify, review & underwrite credit opportunities originated either through Specialty Credit Mid Term regional hubs located in London, New York, Singapore and Paris,.
This position will also play a key role in the construction and the effective management of Specialty Credit Mid Term portfolio. He/she will have a strong 5/10-year experience as Credit Analyst in Banks, Trade Credit Insurance, Export Credit Agencies/Multilaterals or in Single-risk Medium Term Credit Insurance Departments with preferably a focus on Trade Finance and/or Project Finance. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a proactive approach to learning and adapting to new tools and technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered tools, showcasing a forward-thinking mindset that aligns with our vision for growth and progress.
The position is part of a 20-plus credit team will be located in London, United Kingdom and work in cooperation with an international global team.
- Support provided to origination team:
- Support the origination team to pre-screen and identify bankable projects, and to grow and develop new business transactions.
- Actively contribute to set-up and develop worldwide-insured portfolio of sovereign and private obligors (Corporates and Financial Institutions) mainly located in emerging markets with a particular focus on Export & Trade Finance or Project Finance transactions.
- Lead on credit transactions:
- In full autonomy, evaluate and monitor the credit risk associated with loans and insurance cover inquiries.
- Conduct in-depth a sectorial, financial and legal risks analysis on the transaction and the related obligor in liaison with our country risk analysts and according to the tenor requested.
- For more complex transactions and structured finance (pre-export finance, aircraft financing, project finance and Reserve-Based lending...), conduct a critical assessment on the project and the financing scheme.
- Actively exchange with origination team on deals and participate to market meeting and/or calls on related transactions when relevant.
- Decide within a risk authority level according to seniority and/or submit to Credit Committee for large underwriting decisions.
- Implement underwriting principles in accordance with Allianz Trade risk governance.
- Portfolio/
Risk Management: - Take active part to the management of existing “live” portfolio through appropriate risk monitoring, propose mitigants and implement if/when appropriate
- Handle waiver requests, input into regular credit reviews.
- Expertise sharing :
- Take the lead in knowledge sharing within Specialty Credit and actively train the team on its credit expertise.
- Sharing of practice with the industry or product community. Initiate collaboration and share expertise as a subject matter expert, providing advice, peer review and contribution.
- Participate in conferences, and undertake market analysis when relevant.
- University degree preferably at Masters’ level. Recognised financial analyst qualifications, would be advantageous.
- 5-10 year-experience in Trade Credit Insurance, Banking Industry, or/and Multilaterals or/and ECAs or/and in Single-risk Medium Term Credit Insurance Department (CPRI), preferably with an exposure to Corporates, Infrastructure & Trade Finance.
- Strong analytical skills (corporate & financial, sectorial, ESG and political risk as well as transactional analysis) & exposure to corporates in a variety of sectors.
- Ability to make credit decisions.
- Proficiency in reviewing and commenting on loan documentation (including complex legal structures).
- Flexibility and ability to work under time constraints and in dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment - Fluent in English.
- Good geopolitical culture including emerging markets.
