This role is to support the Head of Financial Crime in operating, maintaining and enhancing a proportionate, risk-based anti-financial crime framework across Rathbones' Group. This role provides expert second line advice and oversight across AML/CTF, sanctions, bribery and corruption, tax evasion, regulatory change and management information.
What you'll be responsible for- Support the Head of Financial Crime in maintaining an effective enterprise-wide financial crime framework, including policies, standards, procedures, control documentation and operating guidance.
- Interpret regulatory and industry guidance into practical financial crime controls, ensuring requirements are proportionate to client, product, jurisdiction, delivery channel and transaction risk.
- Support the production and maintenance of the business-wide financial crime risk assessment, including action tracking and evidence of closure.
- Prepare clear and insightful MI for the MLRO, senior management, committees and boards.
- Lead or support investigations into internal suspicious activity reports, documenting decisions, rationale and recommendations for MLRO review.
- Identify, assess and support implementation of changes arising from legislation, FCA expectations, JMLSG guidance, OFSI guidance, enforcement cases, industry intelligence and internal risk events.
- Lead drafting or enhancement of financial crime policies and procedures, ensuring they are clear, operationally usable and aligned to the firm’s risk appetite.
- Maintain a strong audit trail for policy decisions, control design, risk acceptance and management action plans.
- Lead on the design and delivery of financial crime training, including changes to process, controls etc.
- Provide targeted briefings on emerging typologies and regulatory change, with practical examples relevant to the Group.
- Act as a trusted adviser to the business while maintaining appropriate second line challenge and independence.
- Manage and develop Financial Crime Team members, setting clear expectations, reviewing work quality and supporting technical capability development.
- Review and maintain the methodologies and underlying country and industry risk lists.
- Promote consistent decision making, high-quality records, knowledge sharing and a collaborative "One Rathbones" approach.

- Significant financial crime experience in wealth management, asset management, financial planning, banking or other related regulated environments.
- Strong working knowledge of UK financial crime legislation, FCA expectations, JMLSG guidance and risk-based controls.
- Advanced MI reporting capabilities with the ability to analyse datasets and identify emerging trends.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to analyse complex information and identify the key issue/action to drive resolutions
- Strong experience in managing senior stakeholder interaction, presenting clear and concise risks alongside reasonable and solution focused recommendations.
- Able to plan and prioritise work tasks in a very fast paced environment under own initiative.
- Demonstrable experience in advising key stakeholders on anti-money laundering, sanctions, terrorist financing and other financial crime related matters.
- Preferred Level 6 industry recognised AML or financial crime qualification (ICA/CISI).
