We are looking for talented individuals to join our Regulatory Finance and International Arbitration business in London. Responsibilities

Examples of our work might involve the preparation of expert reports on a range of economic and finance issues in litigation and international arbitration proceedings, including for example assessing economic damages or valuing companies; supporting regulators and regulated companies in price control determinations (e.g. cost of capital estimation, financeability analysis); regulatory due diligence support to investors acquiring regulated infrastructure assets; evaluation of climate change and energy policies, including emissions, renewable energy and energy efficiency policies;

the assessment of economic impacts including costs, benefits and other social effects of a wide variety of government policies and regulations to markets, businesses and assets; auction design and/or simulation, and competitors’ analysis; or the development of pricing systems for transport infrastructure.

  • Apply the technical skills and knowledge gained during their graduate studies to numerous industries across a variety of jurisdictions
  • Assist in writing expert reports, preparing presentations to arbitral tribunals and preparing for cross-examination, including collaboration with legal professionals
  • Perform and develop cutting-edge economic analysis on complex real-life issues
  • Write research reports and prepare client presentations for senior staff and clients to help them make informed economic decisions
  • Influence project strategy, including the preparation and presentation of oral and written submissions
  • Collaborate with in-house experts and outside academics
  • Develop and strengthen both project and people management skills
  • Develop and deliver internal training sessions
You will need
  • To hold a BA/ BSc and a Master's or PhD in Economics and/or Finance with exceptional academic records. Although specialisms such as finance, microeconomics and econometrics are of particular interest, NERA employs strong analytic and empirical economists from any field of speciality.
  • To enjoy microeconomics, finance and quantitative research
  • 1-2 years' relevant work experience in International Arbitration or Regulatory Finance would be beneficial
  • To be comfortable working in Excel; additional expertise in Stata, R, Python or other quantitative software platforms would also be beneficial but not essential
  • To have strong attention to detail and be able to think analytically and critically
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken, and fluency in another language including Spanish or Portuguese would be preferred
  • To be able to work effectively both individually and in teams
