COMPANY OVERVIEW

CORE POWER was founded in 2018 to solve the world's energy challenges by delivering ship-based power directly to the industries and economies driving global prosperity, overcoming the barriers that have held nuclear energy back.

CORE POWER builds, integrates and deploys ship-based nuclear energy systems. We build and support two classes of vessel: moored ship-shaped power plants that generate high-density energy, and nuclear-powered commercial ships that will speed up global trade.

Headquartered in Chiswick, London, with offices in Washington, D.C. and Japan, CORE POWER operates at the intersection of advanced nuclear, maritime, energy security and industrial policy.

Role Summary

The Project Finance Analyst joins the Commercial Analytics team with a focus on the project financing and deal economics of floating nuclear power plants (FNPP) and commercial marine nuclear propulsion (CMNP). The role develops, builds and maintains the project finance models that define the economics of selling and deploying an FNPP/CMNP, covering SPV structures, offtake and PPA pricing, cash flows and project returns, and provides the economic analysis and costing support that feeds delivery programmes, including reactor and end user partnerships.

The role also supports the evaluation of capital formation options for first-of-a-kind energy infrastructure, spanning equity, debt, export credit and government-backed financing, and the assessment of deployment opportunities for commercial and financial viability. As a pre-revenue, first-of-a-kind business, this analysis directly informs pricing, commercialisation strategy, business model development and investor engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Provides project finance modelling, deal economics and costing support across the Analytics portfolio, alongside broader economic assessment covering market and competitive cost positioning, policy and incentive impacts, and business model economics, always with a commercial focus. Works closely with the Director of Analytics, the Commercial team, programme leads and external partners to ensure the economics of FNPP and CMNP deployment are rigorously modelled, transparently documented and ready for commercial and investor use.

Job Requirements Project Finance Modelling & Deal Economics

  • Models offtake and revenue structures, including PPA pricing, tolling, charter style and lease versus own arrangements, and how deal economics differ across end users (utilities, data centres, industrial off-takers, shipowners).
  • Develops financing scenarios and sensitivity analysis across cost of capital, contract tenor, delivery risk, refuelling and refurbishment cycles, and residual value.
  • Benchmarks structures, pricing and returns against comparable energy and infrastructure transactions and monitors relevant project finance market activity.
  • Supports evaluation of capital formation and financing structures for first-of-a-kind deployment, including equity, debt, export credit agency and government-backed programmes, and what each implies for project bankability.
  • Maintains model documentation, assumption registers and audit trails to investment-grade standards, ensuring models are review-ready for external scrutiny.
Economic Analysis & Programme Costing
  • Provides support to economic analysis and cost modelling feeding delivery programmes, including reactor vendor and end user collaboration projects.
  • Supports bottom-up cost model development (cost to deliver), lifecycle cost analysis and LCOE/TCO assessment, integrating engineering inputs and…
