We are currently seeking a skilled individual to join the Benchmarks and Credit Rating Agencies Supervision team within the Capital Markets Department. The Capital Markets Department sits within SPC division at the FCA and is responsible for both benchmark and credit rating agencies supervision and policy.

SPC oversees firms and individuals (supervision), creates and reviews the rules by which they operate (policy) and identifies and remedies ineffective competition in markets (competition).

The Benchmarks and Credit Ratings Supervision Team is responsible for supervising UK-regulated benchmark administrators and CRAs in line with the applicable regulatory requirements and the FCA's Approach to Supervision. Benchmark administrators produce benchmarks that are used across financial markets. Where they perform this role effectively, market participants can rely on accurate and representative measures of underlying market activity. CRAs play a key role in providing an assessment of the creditworthiness of governments, corporates and other issuers of securities.

Where they perform this role effectively, investors are well-informed on the risks of investing in these assets and hence, capital is more efficiently allocated. These outcomes contribute particularly to the FCA's statutory objective for market integrity and its consumer protection objective.

• Lead the FCA's supervisory relationships with assigned CRAs, using engagement and direct dialogue to support positive behavioural change and deliver effective regulatory outcomes
• Shape and deliver strategic supervisory initiatives across ratings processes, operational resilience and governance, helping to reduce harm and improve market integrity
• Apply expert judgement to identify emerging risks within credit ratings markets and support proportionate interventions that protect consumers and enhance confidence in the financial system
• Build close partnerships with senior stakeholders across the FCA, bringing insights together to inform supervisory priorities and decision-making
• Share expertise and contribute to a collaborative learning culture, supporting colleagues across Capital Markets and enhancing the FCA's supervisory effectiveness
• Work closely with colleagues across supervisory teams to identify risks, solve complex challenges and deliver outcomes that help safeguard markets and improve the financial wellbeing of millions of consumers across the UK

• Prior experience working in a regulatory or financial services position, such as credit rating agency, commercial or investment bank, asset management, law firm or any other regulatory body
• Prior experience working in an analytical role using a varied range of information, both qualitative and quantitative and using that to form judgements that balance a range of factors

• Thorough understanding of the CRAs business model, credit ratings processes and the potential risks associated with CRA activities
• Ability to lead and deliver projects effectively within agreed timelines while managing multiple priorities
