Finance Manager

Finance Manager Hertford We’re working with an established and growing business based in Hertfordshire that is looking to appoint an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day finance function. Working closely with the CFO and senior leadership team, this is a hands-on role with a strong focus on leading and developing the finance team, improving processes and ensuring the business has accurate, timely financial information to support decision-making.

The business has grown considerably over recent years, making this a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working within an SME environment where they can have genuine ownership and make an impact. Key responsibilities will include:
Leading and managing the day-to-day finance function and supporting the development of the wider finance team Overseeing month-end and ensuring accurate and timely management accounts Managing cash flow, budgeting and forecasting Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining strong financial controls Overseeing transactional finance including AP, AR and credit control Supporting VAT returns, year-end processes and external audit requirements Providing meaningful financial information and commentary to the senior leadership team Reviewing existing processes and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, controls and reporting Supporting the wider business with ad hoc commercial and financial projects The ideal candidate:
Previous experience operating at Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similar level within an SME environment Strong management accounting and financial reporting experience Confident managing and developing a finance team Comfortable remaining hands-on while also taking ownership of the wider function Strong Excel and accounting systems experience Commercially minded with the confidence to work closely with senior stakeholders A proactive, down-to-earth approach and comfortable working within a growing business Qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience candidates will be considered depending on experience This would suit someone looking for a broad Finance Manager position where they can take real ownership, develop a team and play an important role in the continued growth and development of the finance function.
