Banking Operations Officer

Reed Banking is partnered with an international bank seeking an experienced Operations Service Officer to join its Banking Operations team in London. This is a broad operational leadership role responsible for supporting branch operations, overseeing transaction processing, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will act as a key control function within the branch, supporting operational governance, transaction authorisation, customer service excellence, and staff development while maintaining compliance with UK banking regulations and internal policies.

Key Responsibilities Branch Operations & Oversight Support the Head of Retail Operations in the day-to-day management of branch activities. Ensure transactions are processed efficiently, accurately, and in line with internal procedures. Review and approve transactions requiring officer authorisation, including account openings, customer record maintenance and operational processing activities. Ensure accurate completion of start and end-of-day operational procedures. Support the implementation and processing of approved lending transactions.

Assist with branch reporting and the preparation of operational and regulatory information. Risk, Compliance & Controls Ensure adherence to KYC, AML, sanctions, and regulatory requirements. Maintain strong operational controls and support a positive audit environment. Ensure joint custodianship and dual-control procedures are consistently observed. Act as an alternate primary custodian and perform designated custodianship responsibilities. Review branch-managed reconciliation accounts and investigate any discrepancies.

Monitor daily debit and credit transactions to ensure timely resolution and processing. Safeguard confidential information, system access credentials, keys, and security combinations. Settlement, Payments & SWIFT Operations Process and authorise settlement transactions. Support payment operations across core banking and operational systems. Prepare, review and process SWIFT transactions, ensuring secure and accurate execution. Act as a backup for accounting and general ledger processing activities where required.

Ensure accounting records, customer files and operational documentation remain complete and accurate. Team Support & Leadership Provide coaching and guidance to junior operational staff. Support knowledge sharing and development across the branch operations team. Promote compliance, operational excellence and best practice standards. Assist management with additional projects and responsibilities as required. Candidate Profile Qualifications & Experience Degree educated or equivalent.

Previous experience within retail banking operations, branch banking, payments, cash management or customer service functions. Experience operating at Senior Service Associate, Supervisor, Team Leader or equivalent level within a banking environment. Strong understanding of branch operational processes and controls.
