About OlympiaOlympia International is a growing international fashion business working across the UK, Europe and Bangladesh. We are looking for an experienced, reliable and commercially minded finance professional to take ownership of our day-to-day finance function.
This is a hands‑on position suited to someone who is comfortable working independently in a growing owner‑managed business. The immediate priority is to establish accurate financial records, reliable reporting and disciplined payment and credit-control processes.
Key responsibilities- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in Xero.
- Reconcile all bank, credit-card and payment accounts regularly.
- Review and maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers.
- Ensure supplier invoices and customer payments are correctly recorded and allocated.
- Prepare supplier payment runs for Director approval.
- Monitor outstanding customer balances and oversee weekly credit control.
- Maintain a short-term cash‑flow forecast showing expected receipts, payments and funding requirements.
- Provide a concise weekly finance report covering cash position, overdue receivables, upcoming payments and any issues requiring attention.
- Produce monthly management reports, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash‑flow commentary.
- Check that transactions are correctly coded and supported by appropriate documentation.
- Assist with VAT information, payroll coordination and month‑end processes where required.
- Liaise with the company’s external accountants and provide complete, accurate records for statutory accounts and tax filings.
- Help improve financial controls, reporting processes and the use of Xero as the company grows.
- Identify discrepancies, overdue items, cash‑flow risks and control weaknesses promptly.
You should have:
- Strong practical experience with Xero.
- Previous experience managing bookkeeping or finance for a UK business.
- Excellent knowledge of bank reconciliations, AP, AR and credit control.
- Experience preparing cash‑flow forecasts and management reports.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- The confidence to challenge incomplete information and follow up unresolved items.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- The discretion and integrity required when handling confidential financial information and banking access.
- The ability to work independently while communicating clearly with the Director and wider team.
AAT, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualifications would be helpful but are not essential if you have strong, relevant experience. Experience with in fashion, wholesale, importing, international trade or a multi‑currency business would be an advantage.
Controls and authorityThe successful candidate will prepare and organise supplier payments, but final payment approval and release will remain with the Director. The role does not initially have authority to approve payments independently.
Development of the roleThis role will begin as a practical, hands‑on finance position. There is scope for the responsibilities and number of working days to increase as the company grows and its finance requirements develop. Any progression will depend on performance, capability and the future needs of the business.
