Candidates will ideally be a strong graduate with internship or placement year experience in risk, finance or investment management
A specialist investment manager focused on alternative and real asset strategies across private and public markets is looking for a Graduate Risk Analyst to join its risk team. The firm manages capital on behalf of institutional investors, wealth managers, family offices, charities and endowments, and continues to grow.
This is a broad first role in risk. You will work alongside experienced risk professionals across counter party, credit, operational and portfolio risk rather than sitting on a single desk, so you will see how risk is managed across a growing investment business and build a strong foundation for your career. Many of the assets sit outside conventional markets, which means you will regularly meet risk questions that have no ready-made answer.
We are looking for someone curious, who wants to understand how the business works and asks why.
Please note this is not a desk-based investment risk role. The focus is on monitoring, reporting and control across the whole firm.
Key Responsibilities of the Graduate Risk Analyst to include:- Risk Monitoring & Reporting: help produce and maintain regular risk reporting for management and committees, covering portfolio, counter party, credit and operational risk across both listed and private strategies.
- Portfolio Risk: support the monitoring of investment risk exposures and limits, including listed equity portfolios, and flag issues to senior risk colleagues.
- Counter party & Credit Risk: assist with the monitoring of counter party and credit exposures and support reviews.
- Operational Risk: help log and track operational incidents through to root cause analysis and remediation, and support the risk register and control testing.
- Regulatory Capital: support regulatory capital calculations and reporting, working with finance and compliance.
- Stakeholder Support: work with investment, operations, finance and compliance teams so that risk is understood and built into day-to-day decisions.
- Learning & Development: build your knowledge of the firm’s strategies and the regulatory environment for investment managers, with the chance to take on more responsibility as you grow.
- A strong academic record, ideally in a numerate subject such as finance, economics, mathematics or a related discipline.
- Internship or placement year experience in risk, banking, asset management or a related area of financial services.
- Strong analytical skills and good attention to detail, with confidence working in Excel and comfort with data.
- Clear communication skills and the confidence to raise questions with investment professionals and senior colleagues.
- A curious, proactive approach, with a genuine interest in risk, regulation and alternative investments.
