Management Accountant - Private Equity

Alterna Search is partnered with an exciting growth equity investment firm looking to appoint a Management Accountant to its London-based finance team.

The business is at a pivotal stage of its growth, with an ambitious team and a strong focus on building a scalable finance function. This newly created position will carve out the GP/firm finance function, taking ownership of internal financial reporting, budgeting and financial analysis, while playing a key role in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the wider finance function.

Working closely with senior management, including the C-suite, the successful candidate will have direct exposure to key business decisions, helping to shape the firm's financial processes as it continues to grow. A particular focus will be placed on the use of AI and automation to streamline reporting, reduce manual processes and create more time for meaningful financial analysis and genuinely value-added commercial insights.

We are seeking a recently qualified ACA from a mid-tier or Big 4 accounting firm who is a self-starter with an ambitious mindset and is looking for a broad, post-practice opportunity to combine robust, future-proofed financial reporting with commercial exposure across FP&A, modelling and AI.

• Financial Reporting: Ownership of the month-end close and preparation of monthly management accounts across the firm's management company and general partner entities.
• Management Information: Producing management information packs, KPI reporting and variance analysis, providing clear insight into financial performance.
• FP&A: Building and maintaining financial models covering headcount, fee income and the firm's cost base.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Working closely with budget holders and senior management to support the annual budgeting process, monitor costs, assess financial performance and support business planning.
• Modelling: Assisting with models for new fund launches, fee structures and cost scenarios to support strategic decision-making.
• Process Improvement: Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes, strengthen financial controls and develop scalable reporting frameworks.
• AI: Using AI, automation and financial systems to reduce repetitive work and improve the efficiency of the wider finance function.

We are seeking a recently qualified ACA from a reputable accountancy practice. Experience with in private equity, asset management or financial services would be advantageous, although candidates from practice or other relevant financial accounting environments will also be considered. Most importantly, the successful appointee will be proactive, commercially curious and comfortable operating within a lean, entrepreneurial team where taking ownership, challenging the numbers and improving existing processes are essential.

An interest in applying AI and automation to finance is particularly important, alongside the ambition to help build a more efficient and scalable finance function.
