Biosecurity Policy Manager
OverviewThe Centre for Long-Term Resilience (CLTR) is a UK-based, non‑profit think tank dedicated to transforming global resilience to extreme risks. We seek a dedicated Biosecurity Policy Manager (or Senior Biosecurity Policy Manager depending on experience) to lead policy development, stakeholder engagement, and cross‑unit collaboration on extreme biological risks.
Responsibilities- Develop evidence‑based policy recommendations (≈60%) prioritising high‑impact extreme biological risks, conducting literature reviews, refining policy suggestions, liaising with academia and industry, and presenting to conferences and workshops.
- Stakeholder engagement (≈25%) – liaise with government officials, deliver research or policy analysis in response to high‑value requests, evaluate government plans, and promote recommendations through media outreach.
- CLTR teamwork (≈15%) – support broader organisational mission, participate in stakeholder analysis, contribute to fundraising and communication initiatives, and collaborate on cross‑unit projects.
- Strong motivation to reduce extreme biological risks and alignment with CLTR’s mission.
- Experience in biosecurity or a related field; good understanding of key threats and governance measures.
- Clear, independent thinking about government roles in mitigating biological risks.
- Research and critical‐thinking skills (literature reviews, technical evaluation).
- Excellent written and verbal communication; strong interpersonal skills.
- Policy entrepreneurship and high agency – scope projects from scratch and drive to completion.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion where required.
- Experience in policy or advocacy.
- Strategic thinking with pragmatic implementation.
- Line management experience.
- Rapid iteration of project plans in response to new intelligence or political shifts.
- 30 days annual leave + public holidays.
- £5,000 annual wellbeing budget.
- £3,000 annual learning and development budget + up to five days paid work time.
- £2,000 onboarding grant for equipment and supplies.

£70,000 – £90,000 (dependent on experience), with potential for higher pay for a highly qualified Senior Biosecurity Policy Manager.
Flexible location within the UK. Expectation to attend the central London office at least twice a week, including on Mondays. Remote working arrangements may be accommodated for exceptional circumstances.

- Stage 3: 60‑minute final interview + reference check (week 16‑20 February 2026).
