Accommodation Solutions Officer

Department: Housing Needs and Transformation
Section: Temporary Accommodation and Solutions
Responsible to: Accommodation Solutions Team Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an Accommodation Solutions Officer to join our Housing Services team. This role is pivotal in supporting the continuous development, improvement, and success of the Temporary Accommodation and Resettlement service. You will provide housing options advice to households in temporary accommodation and promote effective move‑on to permanent housing, including intermediate rent, private rented, and social housing.

You will also undertake suitability reviews, manage tenancy support issues, liaise with accommodation providers, and assist with complex enforcement cases. This includes preparing written statements for judicial reviews or other legal challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Place single persons and families into suitable accommodation following policy and procedures.
  • Ensure equitable and cost‑effective use of resources in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Undertake suitability assessments when offering accommodation.
  • Provide advice and guidance to households on housing options and manage expectations.
  • Monitor bidding activity and support households in making informed choices.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external agencies for tenancy support and referrals.
  • Investigate breaches of tenancy conditions and take appropriate action.
  • Respond promptly to enquiries and complaints, including those from elected members and MPs.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to policy development and service improvement.
About You

Knowledge &

Experience:

  • Understanding of homelessness legislation and welfare reform.
  • Experience delivering frontline services to homeless households.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and work independently.
