Help shape the UK’s approach to safety and risk. As our Public Affairs Trustee, you will strengthen engagement with MPs, Civil Servants and regulators, translating expert insight into clear policy messages while safeguarding our independence and neutrality.
What difference will you make?The Trustee for Public Affairs will strengthen our ability to influence national policy on hazard and risk management. By guiding engagement with MPs, Civil Servants and regulators, and helping translate technical insight into clear policy messages, the role will ensure our expertise informs decisions that improve public safety.
What are we looking for?We are seeking someone with professional experience in public affairs, government relations or policy advocacy. You should be confident engaging with MPs, Civil Servants and regulators, and skilled at translating complex technical issues into clear, persuasive policy messages. Experience of consultations, parliamentary processes or regulatory engagement is important. Charity or trustee experience is desirable but not essential.

What will you be doing?Our Trustee Board is mainly drawn from engineering, science and regulation, giving us strong technical credibility. Our Strategy to 2030 now focuses more on influencing national policy, so we are strengthening our public affairs capability. The new Trustee will guide engagement with MPs, Civil Servants and regulators, help shape clear policy briefings, and support our political neutrality. You may also advise a small policy working group.
