Civil Service Bank

‘Going Forward into Employment’ (GFiE) is a Government scheme that specializes in the recruitment of Veterans, Service Leavers, and Military Spouses/Partners into the Civil Service. We secure vacancies throughout departments of the Civil Service and advertise them throughout a network for individuals to apply for.

There are many different departments within the Civil Service, and a huge variety of employment and career opportunities. These vacancies are nationwide.

We regularly advertise vacancies on Forces Families Jobs, and the opportunities are exclusively for this community to apply for, nobody else. Criteria for candidates to apply through the scheme are as follows:

• Must have served in the Armed Forces
• OR Must be in resettlement period and due to leave the Armed Forces in a reasonable time frame
• OR Be the current spouse/partner of somebody still serving or who was discharged from the Forces within the last 12 months.

We also have a ‘Candidate Bank’. If individuals are interested in working within the Civil Service, but there are no opportunities available at the current time (or in the right location), then candidates can complete and return the Expression of Interest form alongside their CV. We then make direct contact if/when something becomes available in the area(s) that are stated as preferred locations on the expression of interest form.

To register for the Candidate Bank, we need:

• A completed Expression of Interest form
• An up to date CV
