Job Description & How to Apply Below
The UK pensions system is undergoing significant policy reform. With new legislation progressing through Parliament and increasing focus on retirement outcomes, pensions policy is firmly on the political agenda.
We exclusively represent a highly respected national membership organisation representing the UK pensions industry - sitting at the centre of conversation - and due to a recent restructure they have an exciting opportunity available for an experienced Policy Lead who wants to play a visible role in shaping the debate.
The Mission
You will take ownership of a key area of pensions policy and help ensure the organisation’s voice is credible, influential and heard where decisions are made - in Government, Parliament, regulatory bodies and the media. This is a role for someone who wants their ideas to shape policy, not simply analyse it.
Within your first year you will have:
* Established yourself as a trusted expert in your policy area
* Produced high-quality policy papers and consultation responses that influence debate
* Built strong relationships with policymakers, regulators and industry leaders
* Represented the organisation at industry forums, policy discussions and events
* Ensured the expertise of the organisation’s membership directly informs public policy
The Problems You’ll Be Solving
* Translating complex pensions issues into clear, persuasive policy proposals
* Ensuring the voice of the pensions industry is heard during a period of legislative reform
* Bringing together diverse member views into coherent and influential policy positions
* Engaging policymakers and regulators at the right moments to influence outcomes
You will likely bring:
* Substantial knowledge in policy - experience developing it within government, a regulator, financial services firm, membership organisation or political environment
* The ability to translate complex technical issues into clear arguments and policy recommendations
* Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders or presenting at industry events
* Most importantly, you are someone who wants their work to shape real-world policy outcomes.
Why This Role?
* You will join a high-performing and collaborative Policy & Advocacy team at a time when pensions policy is firmly in the national spotlight.
Few roles offer the opportunity to:
* Contribute directly to national pensions legislation and policy reform
* Engage with senior policymakers, regulators and industry leaders
* Build a reputation as a credible voice in UK pensions policy
* For someone ambitious in public policy, this role offers visibility, influence and genuine impact.
Rewarded well:
* £50,000 – £65,000 depending on experience
* Discretionary annual bonus
* Strong pension contribution (up to 15% employer)
* Life assurance
* Group income protection
* Health cash plan
* Hybrid working – 1-2 days a week in the office expected
* An exceptional 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays
