Salary: £49,056‑£52,194 per annum

Job OverviewPrivate Sector Housing Officer with experience, based in the London Borough of Newham.
Responsibilities- Carry out multi‑agency inspections of unlicensed properties, licence condition checks and inspections of properties in disrepair.
- Protect tenants and improve the private rented sector through high‑standard regulatory work.
- Support tenants, work on casework and project work, and address common and complex problems proactively.
- Take evidence and manage cases to court and First Tier Tribunal.
- Develop professional skills through training and CPD.
- Knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and other housing legislation.
- Practical experience of serving and enforcing housing legislation.
- Competency in using the HHSRS rating system.
- Practical experience in carrying out housing inspections for disrepair and property licensing issues.
- Experience compiling evidence and taking cases to court and the First Tier Tribunal.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to motivate colleagues and improve teamwork.
- Good working knowledge of private sector housing within a local government setting.
- Ability to work flexibly as part of a team and independently, manage caseload and make confident decisions.
