Type of Working Arrangement: Blended working approach, combining home and office, team attends Ivason House every Wednesday
Hours: Full‑time role (37 hours per week)
The OpportunityBritish Transport Police (BTP) are looking for four Vetting Officers to join the Professional Standards Department on a fixed‑term contract. As a Vetting Officer you will provide a thorough and risk‑focused vetting service, assessing the suitability of police officers, staff, contractors and partners in line with Force Vetting Policy to support the safety, security and integrity of the organisation.
What You'll Be Doing- Conduct vetting checks in line with Force policy and national standards
- Research and analyse information from policing systems and other sources
- Assess risk and make evidence‑based decisions on vetting clearance
- Produce clear, concise reports to support outcomes and recommendations
- Manage a workload of vetting cases, including enquiries, interviews and renewals
- Experience in a regulatory, compliance or policy‑driven environment
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to assess risk and identify concerns
- Excellent written communication skills, able to produce clear and concise reports
- Proven ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision
- High levels of integrity, discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
- Strong interpersonal skills, confident managing challenging or sensitive conversations

Vetting: Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting (MV) and Security Check (SC) Clearance (5 years minimum UK residency required), including a full background and financial disclosure

References: References covering the past 5 years will be requested
Notice Period: This role is subject to a 1 month notice period
