RoleInternational Relations Officer – responsible for leading the delivery of international engagement by the judiciary. The post involves strategic planning, briefing, liaison, line management, and resource forecasting.
Responsibilities- Support engagement with strategic priority jurisdictions as set out in the judiciary’s international strategy, facilitating judicial and official engagements.
- Draft advice, reports and briefings for judges and officials on portfolio areas including Europe and Global Economic Powers.
- Work collaboratively with UK Supreme Court, Ministry of Justice, HM Courts & Tribunals Service, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, and other relevant authorities on the delivery of judicial activities.
- Line‑manage an Executive Officer and oversee secretariat support to the International Training Committee.
- Accurately forecast demands on judicial and official resources, including the international budget, and contribute to the international work log and forward look.
- Provide support to the rest of the team as required.
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver projects or events.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to brief senior judges and prepare reports, and strong resilience and influencing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, influencing and stakeholder skills, with the ability to build and use effective and credible relationships at all levels.
- Ability to adapt to emerging or changing priorities.
- Experience of line management is preferable but not essential.
- Experience of working with Judicial Office holders and knowledge of the judiciary.
- Experience of international engagement is an advantage.
CTC level required.

International Relations Officer is a Civil Service role. Applicants must be citizens of the UK, a Commonwealth country, the EU, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein, or have settled or pre‑settled status under the EU Settlement Scheme, including family members of those nationals. The role is open to all Civil Servants and employees of accredited NDPBs who were appointed on merit through fair and open competition.
